French boutique airline La Compagnie has announced that its all-business-class service between Newark (EWR) and Nice (NCE) will continue through the winter season for the first time, turning a seasonal route into a year-round opportunity.
Best of all, it makes it even easier to explore off-season, an appealing notion given the crowds that summer brings to Nice, Monaco, Antibes, and Cannes. Travelers looking for inspiration can start OTW’s guide to the best towns of the French Riviera.
The move reflects growing American interest in the French Riviera outside the traditional July and August rush and strengthens Nice’s position as France’s second gateway to North America after Paris.
La Compagnie currently operates up to four weekly flights between Newark and Nice during the summer. Beginning in October, service will continue through March with two flights per week before returning to its four-times-weekly schedule in April 2027.
Flights depart Nice on Tuesdays and Fridays and return from Newark on Mondays and Fridays.
The quieter months also make it easier to take advantage of lower hotel costs and the region’s excellent rail network. From Nice, many of the coast’s highlights are easily reached on day trips by train, including Monaco, Cannes, and Menton.
September in Saint-Tropez is one of the most magical months to visit the swanky seaside village, where several hotels stay open throughout the month.
Unlike traditional airlines, La Compagnie flies a single-class Airbus A321neo with just 76 lie-flat business-class seats. Other perks include free Wi-Fi, lounge access, and Mediterranean-inspired meals to soften the long transatlantic journey.
