New Golden Gate Dozen Trail Connects 12 National Park Sites Across San Francisco
San Francisco has a new way to explore some of its most spectacular scenic viewpoints—on foot.

The newly launched Golden Gate Dozen Trail is a 13-mile urban route linking 12 sites within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, stretching from Crissy Field and the Presidio to Ocean Beach and Fort Funston.
Rather than creating a brand-new path, the trail connects existing sidewalks, park trails, and coastal routes into one continuous journey through some of the city’s most iconic landscapes.
The route passes through familiar favorites including Crissy Field, the Presidio, Lands End, and Ocean Beach, but also encourages walkers to discover lesser-known overlooks, historic military sites, and quieter corners.
The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy has also introduced collectible “dozen” stickers that hikers can pick up at participating visitor centers along the way.

Many travelers will recognize portions of the route, including the spectacular coastal stretch through the Presidio. The Batteries to Bluffs Trail remains one of the highlights, with sweeping Golden Gate Bridge views, rugged cliffs, restored military batteries, and seasonal wildflowers along the way.
👉 Travel Tip: If you don’t have time for the full 13 miles, the Presidio alone makes an outstanding half-day outing and pairs perfectly with a visit to nearby Sacramento Street or Clement Street.
