One of the French Riviera’s Most Anticipated Hotel Openings is Finally Here

Over the 20+ years I have been in Sainte-Maxime, I’ve watched this grand Belle Époque landmark through several chapters of its life—from a luxury hotel to a private residence (imagine calling this home) and now back again as one of the French Riviera’s most anticipated hotel openings.

COMO Le Beauvallon has officially reopened this season following an extensive multi-year restoration, bringing new life to the historic waterfront property overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Originally opened in 1914, the hotel now offers just 42 rooms and suites, Mediterranean gardens, a private beach club, COMO Shambhala wellness experiences, and three distinct dining experiences.

Le Restaurant serves refined Riviera cuisine overlooking the gulf of Saint-Tropez, Le Bar pairs cocktails with light bites on the terrace, while the beachfront Beauvallon Sur Mer, led by acclaimed French chef Yannick Alléno, focuses on Mediterranean seafood and relaxed seaside dining.

Despite the name, the hotel isn’t actually in Saint-Tropez. It’s located in Beauvallon, between Grimaud and Sainte-Maxime, on the quieter side of the gulf.

That location is part of its appeal: guests can enjoy a more peaceful setting while still reaching the Port of Saint-Tropez in about eight minutes aboard the hotel’s complimentary private boat transfer.

I’ll be visiting COMO Le Beauvallon later this summer and will be sharing an in-depth review, including the rooms, restaurants, spa, beach club, and whether the restoration lives up to the considerable anticipation surrounding this Riviera icon.

Stay tuned!
