San Francisco Fleet Week 2026: Blue Angels, Ships & Fall Fun
If you’re anywhere near San Francisco in early October and hear an enormous roar overhead, don’t panic. Look up.
San Francisco Fleet Week returns October 4–12, 2026, bringing ships, sailors, concerts, waterfront crowds and, of course, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to the city.
It’s one of Fall in San Francisco’s biggest annual events, and even locals who swear they’re going to ignore it usually end up at a rooftop watch party or sitting on the shoreline at Crissy Field..
The marquee event is the Fleet Week Air Show, October 9–11, staged over San Francisco Bay between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The Blue Angels headline the show, but they’re far from the only aircraft overhead. San Francisco’s is also the only air show in the country featuring a fully choreographed performance by a commercial airliner — a United 777.
Fleet Week is about much more than airplanes. On Friday, October 9, the free Parade of Ships sails beneath the Golden Gate Bridge and along the waterfront toward the Bay Bridge. It’s the largest Parade of Ships on the West Coast, led by a San Francisco Fire Department fireboat spraying huge jets of water into the air.
You can also tour visiting Navy and international ships for free at Piers 27 and 35 on select days from October 7–12. The exact lineup of visiting ships will be announced later in September.
Around town, Fleet Week spills well beyond the Embarcadero with free military-band concerts, K9 demonstrations, Fleet Fest, STEM activities and events in neighborhoods from Chinatown and Japantown to Hayes Valley, the Castro and Golden Gate Park.
👉Traveler Tip: You do not need an air-show ticket to see the Blue Angels. Marina Green, Crissy Field, Fort Mason and other spots along the northern waterfront offer views, although expect serious crowds.
And don’t even think about driving to the waterfront if you can avoid it. Take Muni, walk, bike. The weather is usually gorgeous.
