Sacramento Street San Francisco: Where to Shop & Eat in Presidio Heights
When you want to explore a cute San Francisco neighborhood for shopping and dining, look no further than Presidio Heights and Sacramento Street, a quieter alternative to Union Square.
Stretching between Presidio Avenue and Spruce Street, just south of the Presidio and west of Pacific Heights, a 4-5 block section of Sacramento Street isn’t trying to be loud or trendy.
Instead, it leans into its quiet tree-lined sidewalks, classic San Francisco architecture, and mix of independent fashion boutiques, luxe home décor shops, coffee shops, and acclaimed restaurants.
There’s even a historic movie theater showing old and new films on Sacramento Street.

A visit to nearby Clement Street offers another opportunity to experience San Francisco’s local neighborhood flavor, while the Presidio‘s network of hiking and walking trails is just minutes away.

Goodbyes
I have been going here for years and can honestly say it is one of the best consignment shops in San Francisco. Goodbyes offers a carefully curated collection of second-hand clothing and accessories from mostly upscale brands.
Don’t worry—it’s not one of those stores where you feel like you need to hose off after digging through piles of dirty clothes. Goodbyes is clean, neat, and organized, by size, item, and sometimes color.
You’ll find gowns and cocktail dresses, jeans and tees, bags and scarves, and even a small selection of shoes. If haute couture items are what you’re after, you’ll find some of that too.

Waterlillies Swimwear

I don’t love trying on bathing suits (does any woman over 30?), but Waterlilies Swimwear, a longtime Sacramento Street shop, is known for its collection of designer swimwear, resort wear, and beach accessories that somehow look good on everyone. And it’s not just lighting and mirrors.
Waterlillies carries a wide range of styles, from sleek one-pieces to bikinis, along with matching cover-ups, which I love, and vacation-ready pieces that feel equally at home on a beach in Saint-Tropez or at a friend’s pool party in Marin.

One of Sacramento Street’s most celebrated restaurants, Sorrel is where to go for a special-occasion meal or a celebration dinner with your bestie.

A New York-style bagel in San Francisco? Head to Boichik Bagels, known for its crisp-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside bagels, kettle-boiled and baked in the traditional style.

Garibaldi’s
Though technically located just around the corner on Presidio Avenue near the historic Vogue Theater, Garibaldi’s is a neighborhood gem.
It’s been around for more than 35 years (and I feel like I’ve been coming for about as long).
The Italian-Mediterranean-leaning menu features meat, fish, and pasta dishes, but they are especially known for their chicken Milanese (so good!)
Happy Hour at Garibaldi’s is truly only one hour, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m, and only at the bar, which fills up quickly.
