Summer of Love Weekend Comes to Pier 39 at Love on Haight

San Francisco’s Summer of Love is heading to Fisherman’s Wharf this August, with one of Haight-Ashbury’s most colorful businesses leading the way.

Love on Haight, the longtime tie-dye emporium at Haight and Masonic, recently expanded across town with a second location at Pier 39.

On August 22–23, the waterfront is celebrating with a Summer of Love Weekend that includes live music, merchant specials, and a tie-dye fashion show hosted by Love on Haight as part of the new store’s grand-opening celebration.

Love on Haight, the longtime Haight-Ashbury District shop known for its rainbow-bright clothing, locally made goods, and unapologetic devotion to San Francisco’s counterculture, has opened a second location at Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf, one of San Francisco’s best neighborhoods for families.

The new shop, located next to the San Francisco Carousel, carries hand-dyed apparel, artist-made accessories, official Grateful Dead merchandise, and other locally made goods.

For travelers, it’s a fun way to get a little Haight-Ashbury spirit without leaving the waterfront—though I’d still recommend heading across town to explore Haight Street and its vintage shops, record stores, colorful Victorians, Counter Culture Museum, and plenty of reminders of the neighborhood’s Summer of Love history.

Add to the peace and love experience by dipping into nearby Golden Gate Park for a Guided Summer of Love e-Bike tour.

And if you’re staying near the waterfront, Love on Haight adds another locally rooted stop within easy walking distance of many Fisherman’s Wharf hotels, Pier 39’s sea lions, and the rest of the neighborhood’s attractions, including Alcatraz Tours, bay cruises, and bike rentals for trips over the Golden Gate Bridge.
