Hi! I’m Kimberley, a travel writer whose articles and bylines have appeared in some of the world’s best publications, including National Geographic Traveler, AFAR, Travel + Leisure, The Saturday Evening Post, Virtuoso: The Magazine, Marriott Bonvoy Traveler, Ciao Bambino, AARP, and many other print and online publications.
As much as I love writing, it is work—and a responsibility—to bring places and people to life on the page. I take that seriously because I want you to find something to love everywhere you go. Not every destination becomes a favorite, but I believe there’s always something worth discovering.
Over the years, I’ve learned that travel is about far more than miles logged or pins dropped on a map. The journeys that linger longest are often the ones that ask us to slow down, look a little more closely, and open both our minds and our hearts.
They happen over shared meals, unexpected detours, conversations with strangers, and in those rare moments when we have nowhere else we need to be. Sharing them with curious, kindred spirits is what keeps me packing my bags and hitting the road.
And yes, I have written my share of roundups and lists too—you know the ones: 10 places to (fill in the blank).
The reality is that I want you to experience deeper travel, whether your next adventure takes you across the ocean or just down the road. Sometimes a list is just a good place to start.
One Trip Wonder is where I share honest travel tips, destination guides, hotel reviews, favorite food stops, and practical advice based on places and situations I’ve actually experienced.
We all travel differently, I know. But think of my site as a starting point: pin it, borrow from it, and, whatever you do, make your next trip a wonder.

I believe travel should do more than just check a box. It should also spark imagination, inspire curiosity, and help us discover something new in each destination we visit, and within ourselves.
My stories are rooted in genuine and respectful interest. I’m not afraid to ask questions, nor am I opposed to some good old-fashioned eavesdropping. I have been known to follow a side conversation down a not-so-beaten path to taste what’s growing in the country kitchen and dive into local culture. I also don’t subscribe to the trope that “touristy” is a bad word and that travel “lists” are soulless. Cliché hotspots have become so for a reason, and lists can be helpful for first-timers. It’s all about context.

Do you have a favorite place?
France and California share my heart—I spend months each year in one and grew up in the other. But the truth is, I’m always ready to be swept away by somewhere new.

What has travel taught you?
It’s reinforced that our similarities far outweigh our differences. At their core, people everywhere want safety, opportunity, and dignity for themselves and those they love.

What’s your best piece of packing advice?
Never leave home without an open mind, patience, and kindness. They travel well, weigh nothing, and are always in style. And throw in a little black dress, just in case.
